Hype Machine

I'm very hot and cold with the Hype Machine website. Sometimes I get really obsessed and that's all I will listen to for days and then I'll get bored and listen to my own music for a while. Then I'll jump back to the Hype Machine. And the cycle continues.

I am really into it right now though, so I decided to let you know what I'm listening to and what I'm loving. So I added a music box to the left.

Now you can listen to what I'm listening to.

Hope you enjoy!

13 Reasons Why

Cover of Thirteen Reasons Why by
Jay Asher
I finished reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher the other day. This book wasn't really my style, but it was still a good read. I think that if I had read it 5 years ago I would have really enjoyed it. I definitely thought it was an original idea and appreciate the moral of the story though.

The book is told from the point of view of a teenage boy, Clay. He comes home from school one day to find a box of cassette tapes on his front step addressed to him. There is no return address. As he plays the first tape he realizes it is a girl from his grade, Hannah, who killed herself just a few weeks earlier. She goes on to explain that the tapes explain why she killed herself, the 13 reasons why. Well more like the 13 people that ultimately caused her to do it.

You follow Clay as he listens to the tapes, and visits the places that Hannah mentions in the tapes. You see how Clay is affected by her suicide, even though he did not know her that well. He did have a crush on her.

This book really shows that how you treat others can really have an impact on their lives. Whether you may realize it or not. You don't know what that person is going through or how they will react to the situation. Or what kind of a snowball effect your actions will have.

I wanted to give you the official link to the website (here). And, as I was looking for the link I discovered that they are turning this book into a movie. Selena Gomez is to start as Hannah. I have looked and I can't find any news of a release date though. Here's the IMDB link.

Crazy sentence

Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.

Did you know that that sentence actually makes sense? Pretty crazy huh? Let's break it down, buffalo has 3 different meanings.
1) The city, Buffalo, New York.
2) The type of animal.
3) A verb, meaning to bully, confuse, intimidate, or deceive.

Therefore... Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo.
So in other words; New York buffalo that New York buffalo bully, bully New York buffalo.

Does this all make sense now? I sure hope so! I know my head is spinning!

If you have any other brain teasers let me know!

Amazing Guitarist!

Did he just play a trance song on a guitar?

I just randomly came across this and thought the guitar playing in this video was really amazing, I mean, not only does it sound like trance music but this would require a lot of skill. Hope you enjoy it!

Hardest Logic Puzzle Ever!

I'm not exaggerating. This truly is the hardest puzzle ever. If you can do it then I will be extremely impressed!
Here it is:

Three gods A, B, and C are called, in no particular order, True, False, and Random. True always speaks truly, False always speaks falsely, but whether Random speaks truly or falsely is a completely random matter. Your task is to determine the identities of A, B, and C by asking three yes-no questions; each question must be put to exactly one god. The gods understand English, but will answer all questions in their own language, in which the words for yes and no are 'da' and 'ja', in some order. You do not know which word means which.

Clues:
It could be that some god gets asked more than one question (and hence that some god is not asked any question at all).
What the second question is, and to which god it is put, may depend on the answer to the first question. (And of course similarly for the third question.)
Whether Random speaks truly or not should be thought of as depending on the flip of a coin hidden in his brain: if the coin comes down heads, he speaks truly; if tails, falsely.
Random will answer 'da' or 'ja' when asked any yes-no question

Got it yet?

Dog loyalty

So I stumbled upon this article tonight, and I just thought I would share it. I am a huge dog lover and I just think that the bond between the two dogs is really amazing. The fact that the one that can see helps the blind one is just the sweetest thing.

I have been lucky enough that I have had 3 dogs, and I have loved them all so much. My first dog, when he was only 4 or 5, had swung his head really hard against something and one of his eyeballs had actually popped out of the socket. He had a 50/50 chance of regaining eye sight and unfortunately he did not. Later in his life he lost sight in his other eye and it was really difficult for him to get around. So I can only imagine how hard it must have been for this young dog to lose both his eyes when he was so young. He is so lucky to have such an amazing connection with this other dog.

I can only hope that these dogs find a new home.

On another note, if you are curious just how I came across this article, I joined this site, stumbleupon a little while ago. I never really used it, but I am lying in bed watching Buffy and I am a little ADD sometimes when it comes to shows and I feel like I should be doing something else, so I decided to finally check this site out. I have come across so many interesting things in the past half hour! It's great. One that I really like was the Grilled Cheese Academy. Yum!!

The Body

Joyce on the couch when Buffy finds her.
Since the vampire diaries was on hiatus, i started watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I saw a couple of episodes on TV a while ago. And so i started watching it from the beginning. The other day I came to the episode called the body. This was really unexpected, but this episode was one of the most moving episodes I have ever seen. Of any series.

In the episode Buffy walks into her house to find that he mom is lying dead on the couch. In that first couple of minutes where she deals with trying to revive her mother, calling the paramedics, and finally realizing that her mother is dead I cried harder than I have ever cried.

I have to admit, I can be a pretty cold hearted person. It takes a lot to make me cry. The only other time, that i can think of, that I cried at a TV show was the very last episode of Six Feet Under. That was another very well done episode.

But back to Buffy. So throughout the whole episode there is no "mood music" or anything, the only sounds are the dialogue and background noises. It is truly an amazing episode. Honestly, the first 4 and a half seasons are worth watching just to get to this episode. Although, I don't think it would be as good if you haven't seen the first seasons. You really grow with the characters and they all have a special bond with Joyce (Buffy's mom). During the episode you really see how hard death hits you, and how it effects everyone differently. Buffy has to be strong for her little sister, Dawn tries to rebel, and how Anya doesn't understand how she could just suddenly die.

If you haven't seen this episode, I can't even explain to you how good it is. If you're looking for a tear jerker, this episode will do the trick. Although, I'm not going to tell you to go watch something like 80 episodes in order to see it, so I guess you'll just have to take my word for it.

Back to Six Feet Under for a minute though, this show is really amazing, the character development and acting is phenomenal. For anyone who's looking for a great show to watch this one is fantastic. It's about a family running a funeral home after their father dies. It's quite funny, but in a darker way. And the way it ends will make you cry. That is a promise!

Thank god the vamps are back!!

The Vampire Diaries
Stefan, Elena, Damon
Oh my god!! I just watched the new episode of The Vampire Diaries on the CW and I love love loooove that show! I just can't even express my excitement.

I don't want to give out any spoilers... But wow; this episode was well worth the wait! Something very crazy happened with Alaric, Katherine, and Elena's mom (who's name I can't remember at the moment).

If you haven't watched it yet then go watch it right now! I'm serious, stop reading this and go watch it!

And if you don't watch the Vampire Diaries... Well... I think that you should serious consider starting.

Also I've been reading a new book called 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher. I just started it the other day, but so far it's pretty good. It's not really my cup of tea, but I am enjoying it. And I think it's going to have a really good message. I'll let you know when I'm done! Can't wait!

Lord of Ultima

Lord of Ultima
I started playing this online game called Lord of Ultima. I'm actually really enjoying it, it's totally free and everyone on it is really friendly and helpful!

Basically, in the game, you start out with one city. And you your city starts out with a town hall and you build buildings that collect resources (which you need to build more). There are 4 resources wood, stone, iron, and food. You use the wood and stone to build and upgrade the buildings and the iron and food is for your army.

Once you've built up an army you can send them out to raid dungeons to gain more resources, or to kill monsters and if you defeat the monster you gain an artifact. You can also spend real money and buy artifacts, but that's not my style. I want to beat this game from just hard work!

I have also joined a great alliance. If you find that you have a lot of free time on your hands, I would definitely recommend this game. But it is time consuming, and I am on it everyday for at least an hour, and when I am on my computer it is often running in the background.

Check it out here.
